Sometimes Contact Database records can have unapplied payments attached to their account. These are created by voiding invoices, or adding credits manually. You can use this unapplied payment balance to pay for an invoice that has an open balance and is attached to the same Contact Database record.

There are two ways to check a Contact Database Records balance and see if they have unapplied payments. Both will have you arrive at the same screen. You can either start in the Receivables Module or the Contact Database Module.
Checking Account Balance with Contact Database Module
- Edit a Contact Database record
- In the Overview subtab, click on the Investment section to expand it
- Click on the View Statements link
This will bring you to the statements specifically for the chosen Contact Database record.
On this screen you will be able to view the Contact Database record's balance, including if they have any unapplied payments:
Checking Account Balance with Receivables Module
- Go to the Receivables Module and click on the Statements tab towards the top
- Search for the Contact Database record in the search box and wait for the results to load
- From here you can see the Invoices Balance and Unapplied Payments columns
- Click on the edit pencil next to a Contact record to view more details of their balance
