In this article, we will cover how to create a test event and test that the integrity of the event is working as designed, such as the registration form, ticket types, and payments.
How to Create a Test Event:
1. Create a Test Environment:
Set up a test environment that mirrors the actual event platform but is separate from the live environment.
Make a copy of the event by clicking on the checkbox next to the event you are creating a copy of and then in the actions menu dropdown select copy.
2. Use Test Payment Methods:
Edit the total transaction amounts that would be charged on the event ticket prices and or registration to be $1 to verify that the Merchant Account is Receiving the funds from the registration.
Another way to test these event registration forms would be to use dummy credit card information to simulate transactions without actual money changing hands.
Most payment gateways provide test card details for this purpose.
3. Test Different Ticket Types:
If your event offers different ticket types or packages, ensure to test each one to confirm that the purchase process works correctly for all options. This includes group tickets and single ticket types that can be set up in the Tickets Tab of the event being tested.
4. Verify Discounts and Promo Codes:
If your event uses discounts or promo codes, test these to ensure they are applied correctly and that the final purchase amount reflects the expected discounts.
5. Check Confirmation Emails:
After a successful purchase, check the confirmation emails that are sent to attendees. Verify that the emails contain accurate information, including ticket details, event dates, and any additional instructions.
6. Test Notification emails:
Within Events > Registration Tab >(Configuration) Sub Tab there are notification email settings.
Send yourself a notification email by completing the registration form.
If your notification emails contain links or call-to-action buttons, test them to ensure they lead to the correct destinations. Check for any broken links.
7. Simulate Refunds:
If applicable, test the refund process to ensure it works as expected. This is important in case attendees need to cancel or change their plans.
Remember to document and address any issues or bugs encountered during testing. Regularly reviewing your Events Registration Forms allows for issues that may have occurred during the signup process to be caught and addressed promptly.
