Transitioning from Universal Analytics Tracking Code to GA-4
Universal Analytics (UA) was sunset on July 1, 2023. Google has discontinued support for the Universal Analytics tracking code. If you have not yet migrated, follow the steps below to set up GA4 using Google Tag Manager.

What does this mean for your site's analytics?
If your site was previously connected to the Statistics module via a Universal Analytics tracking code, that connection is no longer active. UA stopped processing data on July 1, 2023, and the Statistics module has since been updated to support GA4 directly.
To resume tracking analytics on your site, you will need to create a GA4 property and connect it to Accrisoft via your Measurement ID.
Next Steps
To continue tracking analytics with GA4, complete the following:
- Create a Google Analytics 4 account and property
- Set up and install Google Tag Manager
- Follow the steps below to create and verify your GA4 tag
Set up the Google tag in Tag Manager
Step 1: Create a Google tag
Start by creating a Google tag to send data to your GA4 property.
- In Google Tag Manager, click Tags > New
- Enter a name for the tag at the top (e.g., "GA4 - example.com")
- In the Tag Configuration box, select Google tag
- In the Tag ID field, enter your "G-" Measurement ID from your GA4 Data Stream settings
- Keep the Send a page view event when this configuration loads option checked to automatically send pageview events
Step 2: Create a trigger
Set up a trigger to fire the Google tag when someone loads your website.
- Click Triggering and select Initialization - All Initialization Events
- Using the Initialization trigger ensures the Google tag fires before other tags on the page. Learn more about Page triggers.
- Click Save to save the tag configuration
Step 3: Verify your tag works
Before publishing, confirm the tag fires correctly:
- In Google Tag Manager, click Preview — the Tag Assistant will open
- Enter your site's URL and load the page
- Check if the Google tag fired when the page loaded:
- ✓ If your tag fired successfully, it will appear in the Tags Fired list in Tag Assistant
- ✗ If your tag did not fire, review your trigger settings and confirm the correct Tag ID was entered
- When finished debugging, close Preview mode
- In your Workspace, click Submit to publish your changes — tags will not track until published
Step 4: Add your Measurement ID to the Statistics module
Once your tag is published and confirmed working, connect it to your Accrisoft site:
- Go to Marketing > Statistics module in your Accrisoft backend
- In the Setup tab, paste your Measurement ID (format:
G-XXXXXXXXXX) - Click Save
Your Measurement ID can be found in your GA4 account under Admin > Data Streams > [your stream] > Measurement ID.
