Understanding the Shortcuts module

The Shortcut module has three sections: Alias, A/B Split, and QR Codes.

  • The Alias tab allows you to create custom URLs for forwarding content on the site. You can make more human-readable URLs for users to understand the purpose of the webpage. Creating a new shortcut requires three fields:
    • Shortcut Path
      • One one-word or hyphenated group of words should go here, this is the shortcut.
    • HTTP Response Code
      • You will likely be using either a 301 redirect (permanent) or a 307 redirect (temporary). Please work with your IT team to know what kind of redirect works best for you.
    • URL
      • This is the current URL of the page you are looking to create a shortcut for.
  • The A/B Split tab is a type of custom alias that forwards one link to multiple URLs, up to three different web pages on rotation.
  • The QR Codes tab lets you create a QR Code that forwards to a URL that you specify. These QR Codes can be printed or digitally distributed so that they can be scanned by smartphones and other devices to direct visitors to a page on your site.
